Ok, could be better.
This is my first JTS – hopefully not my last. I got the .30 cal because I wanted a bit more oomph. When I filled it I could not get more than around 2,500 psi in before it leaked: the male Foster fitting was loose. I tightened that and tested some pellets over the chrony (chronograph). It was really underpowered, but I shot a few more times to see if it needed to settle – no change, and very few shots (around 10) before I needed to refill.
I adjusted the hammer spring, but only got lower FPS. When I removed the spring I found a plastic guide inside it; after removing that the power returned to the advertised level, but the spring was still too long. I had another spring that I shortened by cutting off a few coils – that changed the gun for the better: improved accuracy, much smoother operation, and a significantly higher shot count. The power was about half before the change, so the system is sensitive to spring length and stiffness. I’ve ordered some more springs with thicker wire to test whether a shorter, stiffer spring works better.
This is not a gun you can just put a scope on and take hunting or shooting right out of the box – but it’s very easy to work on. You can tune it to your preference without special tools – just a chronograph and a compressor or bottle. Worth the money, in my opinion.
