  • This JTS Brawn bullpup PCP rifle is made entirely of metal and it has a beautifully finished wood stock. It has a barrel with a length of 437 mm and it has a total length of 838 mm. The Brawn has a robust design and it weighs roughly 4220 grams, which can be attributed to the full metal and wood construction. And yet, the air rifle feels great to hold in your hands. The wood stock features an ergonomic pistol-style grip with pre-moulded finger grooves and a rough, lasered texture on both sides. That texture is also lasered into the sides of the fore-end and it provides slightly more grip. The stock has a thumb-hole, which allows for comfortable shooting and the wood cheek rest, too, is very comfortable. The rubber butt-plate on the back of the JTS Brawn provides more stability, which vastly improves accuracy.

The JTS Brawn bullpup doesn’t have sights of its own, but it instead comes equipped with a Weaver/Picatinny scope rail. That scope rail allows you to easily mount a scope onto the PCP rifle that fits its accurate range. This PCP rifle is available in various calibres, each with a different magazine and a corresponding magazine capacity:
    5.5 mm / .22 – capacity of 10
    6.35 mm / .25 – capacity of 10
    7.62 mm / .30 – capacity of 7
The JTS Brawn uses a PCP cylinder with a fill pressure of 220 bar / 3200 PSI to shoot those pellets and the cylinder is located right below the barrel shroud. The barrel shroud and the cylinder are connected with a barrel band towards the front of the barrel shroud, which is also where you’ll find a pressure gauge. That pressure gauge can be reversed from left to right, so the shooter can always keep an eye on it. The regulated system ensures consistent shot power, as long as the pressure is adequate. There’s a pressure gauge on the side of the rifle, which can be used to check the regulator’s fill pressure.

The JTS Brawn bullpup features an adjustable 2-stage trigger, which allows you to adjust it as you see fit. There’s a manual safety located right in front of the trigger, housed within the trigger guard. Its placement allows you to easily reach and manipulate it with your trigger finger, so you won’t have to change your hands’ positions.

    Ok, could be better.

    Review by JJ

This is my first JTS – hopefully not my last. I got the .30 cal because I wanted a bit more oomph. When I filled it I could not get more than around 2,500 psi in before it leaked: the male Foster fitting was loose. I tightened that and tested some pellets over the chrony (chronograph). It was really underpowered, but I shot a few more times to see if it needed to settle – no change, and very few shots (around 10) before I needed to refill.

I adjusted the hammer spring, but only got lower FPS. When I removed the spring I found a plastic guide inside it; after removing that the power returned to the advertised level, but the spring was still too long. I had another spring that I shortened by cutting off a few coils – that changed the gun for the better: improved accuracy, much smoother operation, and a significantly higher shot count. The power was about half before the change, so the system is sensitive to spring length and stiffness. I’ve ordered some more springs with thicker wire to test whether a shorter, stiffer spring works better.

This is not a gun you can just put a scope on and take hunting or shooting right out of the box – but it’s very easy to work on. You can tune it to your preference without special tools – just a chronograph and a compressor or bottle. Worth the money, in my opinion.
