This VH.WAX wax was developed and produced by Valhal Outdoor themselves. The wax is suitable for maintaining and seasoning cast iron cookware.
Thanks to its natural ingredients, the wax has a light yellow colour and smells like beeswax. Valhal Outdoor composed the wax out of:
• Rapeseed oil
• Grape seed oil
• Beeswax
You can easily apply the wax with a sponge or cloth. To properly prepare or maintain your cast iron, Valhal Outdoor recommends following these:
1. Place your cast iron cookware in the oven and preheat it to 175°C (350°F). Let your item warm up for 20 minutes.*
2. While the cast iron is still warm, rub all sides with Valhal Outdoor's VH.WAX, using a cloth or paper towel.
3. Use another clean cloth to apply a thin and even layer of wax on the cast iron.
4. Put your cast iron pan or accessory back in the oven for 40 minutes at 250°C (480°F), to allow the coating to polymerise.*
5. Depending on how smooth and/or well-oiled you want your cast iron item, you can repeat this process two or three times.
* If you can do these steps outdoors, such as on a barbecue, we recommend doing so. During step 4, a fair amount of smoke may develop.
