Angle Cosine Indicator Rome RUAC System
This Rome RUAC System angle cosine indicator is a tool that long-range shooters simply can’t do without if they’re regularly shooting at angles. That’s because it clearly indicates the cosine value, which allows you to easily calculate the correct ballistic range. Let’s dive into why that’s important.
Shooting in a rifle scope is often done on a flat range, which means the gravity’s effect on the projectile on a flat trajectory is taken into account and corrected for. If you’re shooting at a target that’s higher than you or lower than you, then gravity will affect the projectile in a completely different manner. More often than not, you’ll overshoot your target by a bit.
Using the cosine value along with the measured distance to the target will allow you to calculate the flat (horizontal) distance to the target. Let’s say the angle cosine indicator indicates 87 metres to the target. You’ll then multiply the measured distance with 0.87. At a distance of 100 metres, this will get you a ballistic range of 87 metres. This means you’ll aim slightly lower than you would have at the original distance, compensating for how gravity affects the projectile. This method allows you to easily convert distances of up to 250 metres to the correct ballistic range, but the angle cosine indicator will come in handy at longer distances at well. That’s because it eliminates the need to measure the angle and calculate its cosine angle. You simply check the cosine value on the Rome RUAC System angle cosine indicator and enter that into the ballistic software to get to the correct ballistic range.
This RUAC System angle cosine indicator is made entirely of black anodised aluminium and it’s -as the name implies- compatible with the RUAC (Rome Alignment Ultimate Concept) mounting system.
