Sweet Spot
I have a few other Weihrauch rifles (HW30s, HW98, HW97k), and was considering a HW95, but opted for the HW85 instead. I'm glad I did! The longer barrel seems to make the gun more stable. It's easy to cock, shoots smoothly and just feels nice and balanced. I am not much of an iron sight shooter, but put the first 50 rounds through on the irons and the grouping was really good. After that I mounted a Hawke Airmax 4-12x40 AO and at 11 yards (my "indoor" range), got single hole groupings...and the rifle is still breaking in. Perhaps compared to the HW95 this rifle is heavy, but compared to the HW98 and HW97k it feels very nice. It is not as long or heavy as some would have you believe. It looks like what would happen if an HW30s grew up. I also really like the ambi Luxus stock. I would highly recommend the HW85, be if your first Weihrauch or not.
