What is Tokyo Marui?
Tokyo Marui is known as the inventor of the contemporary airsoft replica. The Japanese company started in 1965 as a toy manufacturer and two decades later, introduced its first airsoft replica, a Luger P08 that immediately was laureled for its incredible accuracy. Continuing on the airsoft path, a year later they introduced a Smith & Wesson M59 with recoil-effect. This was the first GBB (Gas Blow-Back) replica on the market.
Always looking for innovation, Tokyo Marui then caused a shockwave in the airsoft world, when, in 1991, they presented the FAMAS F1, world’s first electric airsoft replica and the mother of all AEG’s (Automatic Electric Gun). The three gear gearbox concept used then, is still the blueprint for all AEG’s that are now being made by other manufacturers.
In 2003, another novelty was introduced: the first bolt-action replica in the guise of the VSR-10 airsoft sniper. And just four years later, Tokyo Marui designed the first AEG with blowback (EBB, Electric Blow-Back); the AK47MN. By now, it’s clear that Tokyo Marui always has had a leading role in airsoft replica manufacturing.
But aside that, the brand is known for the use of durable materials, high accuracy and unmatched reliability. Their products are well designed with tight tolerances.
