What are airsoft pants?

The latter is quite important, as you don’t want your pants down your ankles, nor do you want them reducing your movements in any other restrictive way.
What kind of protection do airsoft pants offer?
Naturally, the robust fabric will disperse of some of the impact of BB’s. But airsoft pants offer more protection than that. The durable fabric can handle some abuse from sweeping branches and sand sliding too.
Many of or airsoft pants have got knee protection. The most common variant has a soft inner layer and a hard protective cap on the outside. Often the latter is removable too. You can kneel everywhere without a worry and believe us, you’ll be thankful for the extra protection when kneeling (or falling) on concrete littered with BB’s. It’s staggering how much pain one of those little balls can inflict when you kneel on it.
Some of our airsoft pants are wind- and waterproof and this protection against the elements is often much needed when doing outdoor skirms. As long as airsoft pants are breathable, your sweat can evaporate, cooling you down in a natural way. Being windproof and waterproof will prevent you cooling down too much.
If airsoft pants can be adjusted around the ankles, it’ll prevent dust, sand and dirt from getting in your shoes. A close fit around the ankles is also a good precaution against ticks. Sometimes, airsoft pants feature a small hook on the leg-end, that can be hooked behind your shoelace, making sure the ankles stay covered.
A completely different form of protection -but nevertheless an important one- is camouflage. We offer airsoft pants in natural brown and green shades, as well as different camouflage prints. Some airsoft pants are treated with an infrared absorbing coating, making you significantly less visible with night vision equipment.
The fit of airsoft pants
The most important thing, is that you should be able to move freely when wearing airsoft pants. And for that, a good fit is a must. This begins at your waist, where many airsoft pants have stretch material or a Velcro adjustment for a perfect fit. The fit around your waist is crucial, as most airsofters will stuff their pockets with all kinds of stuff and all that extra weight will hang around your hips.
Some airsoft pants with knee protection have adjustment arrangements at the knees too, making sure the protection won’t shift. Some pants will let you adjust the knee protection in height, while others can combine this with adjustment for a tight fit around the knees.
Often seen on airsoft pants are stretch inserts (for instance at the knees). These allow for a comfortable snug fit of the airsoft pants, while still allowing for a maximum of freedom of movement.
How many pockets do airsoft pants need?
Many times, the answer will be: ‘Always more than it has…’ Whether you want to bring some extra magazines, a torch, protein bars, tissues or papers, fact is that the more pockets you have, the more you will bring with you. Standard pockets, such as the hand pockets, are used for simple things like a tissue or a kill rag. When they can be closed, you might want to carry your keys in these. The rear pockets are often kept empty, as everything in there will give you discomfort when sitting down. The most versatile pockets are the big ones on the thighs. They offer space and can almost always be closed. And the stuff in there, won’t bother you or give you discomfort. Same goes for the pockets on the lower side of the legs.
