This Sig Sauer MCX Virtus Patrol is a strongly designed, self-loading weapon that shoots .223 Rem ammunition. Upon firing those rounds, gasses are released into the barrel, which are re-used by this rifle to complete its action. There’s a gas block on the barrel right around the fore-end of the handguard, that redirects some of the gas towards the short-stroke gas piston. That piston is then thrust backwards, forcing it into contact with a connecting rod that in turn pushes back the bolt. The remaining gasses are vented from the top of the gas block. As a result, less gas is vented through the front of the barrel, thus strongly reducing the rifle’s recoil. The gas block has two modes, which provide some control over the amount of gas that’s diverted. There are ports on top of the handguard that you can use to easily reach and adjust the gas block.
The Sig Sauer MCX Virtus Patrol has a durable handguard that feels good to hold in your hands and it features M-LOK slots on both sides and the bottom. These allow you to easily attach any number of accessories to further customize your shooting experience. There’s a Weaver/Picatinny scope rail on top of the handguard that extends along the upper receiver. The scope rail comes equipped with removable and collapsible iron sights, but you can also choose to mount a rifle scope that better suits the accuracy of the MCX Virtus Patrol. The 406 mm long carbon barrel allows you to consistently shoot accurately and the flash hider ensures you won’t be hindered by the rifle’s flash, regardless of the lighting circumstances. The rifle’s magazine has a capacity of ten rounds.
The MCX Virtus Patrol by Sig Sauer was named after the Roman word Virtus, which stands for bravery, valour and above all excellence. A well-chosen name for this excellent firearm that has a consistent performance. This should not come as a shock, since the Sig Sauer MCX Virtus Patrol is based on the MCX, which was originally designed for special units. The Virtus was designed in part due to the feedback from those special units.
This Sig Sauer MCX Virtus Patrol performs excellently when it comes to ease-of-use and ergonomics, too. The pistol style grip feels good to hold in your hands and it has a rough texture on both sides, which provides added grip. The weapon can be operated almost entirely ambidextrously, thanks to the ambidextrous fire selector and charging handle. The magazine pin can be operated from both sides of the rifle’s frame as well, but there’s a slightly larger button on the right side that you can easily reach with your index finger. This weapon features a two-stage trigger that provides complete control over the timing of your shot.
This Sig Sauer MCX Virtus Patrol has a collapsible stock, that allows you to more easily transport it. The rifle remains fully operational, even with a collapsed stock. That stock can be set at five different positions to find the perfect Length-of-Pull that suits your shooting posture. There are QD carry sling attachment points in various positions on the frame, which allow you to easily carry the MCX Virtus Patrol with you handsfree.
