FX DRS Tactical 700

The FX DRS Tactical 700 is the tactical prodigy of the FX DRS family. It differentiates itself with a robust handguard, which features a full-length Weaver/Picatinny scope rail. The underside sports a full-length Arca-Swiss accessory rail. Added are mounting holes for QD sling swivels.

In addition, the fully adjustable 2-stage trigger got a renewed trigger blade and the FX DRS Tactical 700 got its own Tactical Power plenum with a capacity of 35 cc, on top of the 9 cc inside the block. Together with an optimised airflow, this will ensure maximum performance and minimal air consumption.

Another eye-catching feature of the FX DRS Tactical 700 is that it’ll accept a Mil-Spec buffer tube for an AR15-style buttstock. Both are not included, as they are often subject to very specific personal preferences. For this, we’ve got a vast assortment of buffer tubes and buttstocks in our store. Yet, the FX DRS Tactical 700 can be used without them. The standard equipped FX UG-1 grip will let you use it as a PCP air pistol.

Features of the FX DRS Tactical 700

Inside, the DRS crammed full with the latest airgun technology. And, of course, it comes as standard with various tuning options; from an externally adjustable regulator to an adjustable preload of the hammer spring. We’ll pick some of the highlights for you:

DRS air tube barrel shroud

The FX DRS Tactical 700 is FX’s first PCP with the air reservoir mounted around the barrel. No cylinder or bottle under the barrel, which offers the advantage of the profile being lowered significantly. This will aid you in your shooting stance, but also means that transporting and storing the FX DRS Tactical 700 will take less space. The air capacity of the reservoir is 310 cc.

Adjustable regulator

To have the FX DRS firing every shot with the same pressure, this PCP uses a MkII AMP regulator. This regulator is externally adjustable, making it a breeze to adjust the pressure to match the chosen pellet or slug. Doing this ensures the highest possible accuracy and guarantees an ultimate shot consistence.

Adjustable hammer spring

Without the stock attached to the system, the hammer spring preload dial can be adjusted. With more preload on the hammer, the valve will stay open longer, letting through more air. And with less preload, the valve will closer quicker, letting through less air. You can experiment with this and try to keep air pushing behind the pellet or slug for as long as possible, without and excess of air disturbing the balance when the projectile exits the barrel.

Tactical Power plenum

FX is well-known for spending a lot of time perfecting their plenums. This is the air chamber (pre-chamber) between the regulator and the valve. It’s the exact amount of regulated compressed air that is used to propel one projectile. For large projectiles, longer barrels and higher speeds, more air will be needed to let the pellet or slug leave the barrel with the desired speed. The other way around, will a too large quantity of air needlessly reduce the shot count, while also having a negative effect on the balance of the projectile. The FX DRS Tactical 700 has a 35 cc Tactical Power plenum. Perfect for pellets, but equally suitable for slugs.

Superior barrel system

The barrel system features a removable Superior Heavy liner with rifling that’s pressed in from the outside. This makes for a very smooth inner surface and very fluent rifling. All this is done to minimise friction and maximise sealing around the pellet or slug. The barrel features a ½ UNF thread with thread protector for mounting an optional moderator.

Adjustable trigger

To get the very best out of the FX DRS Tactical 700, its trigger is fully adjustable. With this, you can adjust the trigger exactly as you like it, making its feel match your shooting style. Both the first and second stage are adjustable and the trigger blade is adjustable in distance and height, but can also be rotated for perfect ergonomics.

Cocking and filling of the FX DRS Tactical 700

With the magazine in place, cocking the FX DRS is done easily by pulling the very subtle cycling side lever on the right side towards you. And to quickly refill the air reservoir, there’s a filling hole on the right side, into which you can put a fill probe. Easy!
