Element Optics ETX Red Dot

The ETX red dot by Element Optics is light and compact, which makes it suitable for mounting on pistols, among other applications. Automatic brightness adjustment and shake-to-wake functionality contribute to battery life.

Operation of the red dot is straightforward, with a button on each side of the housing. Brightness of the dot can be adjusted with these buttons, as well as switching the shake-to-wake functionality and automatic brightness adjustment on and off. The buttons also come with a locking function, to prevent accidental changing of settings. This is especially useful during competitions, for instance.

There are 10 brightness settings, of which 8 are suitable for daylight conditions and 2 for nighttime use. The automatic brightness adjustment setting selects one of these settings, based on the ambient light that is detected by the sensor at the front of the red dot. The shake-to-wake setting ensures that the red dot enters stand-by mode, once it has been laying still for 120 seconds. Combining these two settings helps preserve the battery as much as possible, which results in a battery life which can reach up to 42,000 hours. In case the battery needs to be changed, this can be done on the topside of the mounting plate. As a result, the red dot does not need to be removed from the gun, which in turn means that re-zeroing is unnecessary.

Mounting the Element Optics ETX red dot can be done using two methods: either with the Trijicon RMR footprint, or with the included Weaver/Picatinny adapter.
