BB pellets are small, round balls made from biodegradable material. These airsoft pellets have a fixed diameter of 6 mm and are available in various weights. The airsoft pellets are fired with a controlled maximum force to ensure they do not cause injuries.
BB pellets were once made of plastic, but as you can imagine, this created a significant environmental burden on airsoft fields. For this reason, BB gun bullets are now all biodegradable. But don’t worry—they won’t immediately degrade once you open the packaging. As long as they are stored away from sunlight and in a dry environment, bio BBs remain usable for a long time. It is only when they are exposed to nature that they will decompose within a few years.
When selecting BB gun pellets, it is important to choose high-quality airsoft pellets. This means they should have a smooth finish and be made from durable material that won’t easily break apart inside your airsoft replica. Fragments can cause contamination and lead to malfunctions.
A smooth finish means there should be no seam on the BB pellets, and the surface should be evenly polished. Only a perfectly finished BB gun bullet ensures accuracy. Any inconsistency will result in deviations in the shot trajectory.
The weight of BB pellets should be matched to their intended use. Lighter BB gun pellets will have a higher velocity but will also slow down more quickly due to air resistance. This results in a more curved trajectory, meaning light BB gun bullets will show greater variation in impact points at different distances. Weight also affects the range they can achieve.
Heavier BB pellets have a longer range, a flatter trajectory, and are less affected by wind. However, they require more force to be fired, and every airsoft field has a power limit. Finding the right balance is crucial - BB pellets that are too heavy with insufficient power will not achieve enough speed, resulting in reduced range and a more curved trajectory compared to lighter airsoft pellets fired with the same force.
For an AEG, we recommend BB gun pellets between 0.2 and 0.32 grammes. A DMR typically requires 0.28 to 0.36 grammes, while a sniper rifle usually demands heavier BB pellets, ranging from 0.36 to 0.46 grammes.
Here at Krale, we offer dozens of different airsoft pellets to choose from. We have used our years of experience and customer feedback to curate the best brands and types in our selection.
