The Walther PDP Match Full Size 5"" SF - Black Ribbon is a well-designed firearm that boasts an excellent and consistent performance. It has a 5” (127 mm) barrel with polygonal rifling, which makes for an accurate full-size Walther Performance Duty Pistol.
Sitting atop the steel slide on the Black Ribbon version is a micrometer rear sight, which permits very fine and ultra-precise adjustments. That makes it ideal for competition use and for long-range pistol shooting. If you prefer a red dot, the Walther PDP Match Full Size 5” SF – Black Ribbon is well equipped: it features an optics-ready slide, meaning there is a removable plate towards the rear end of the slide. Once you’ve taken that plate off, you can easily replace it with a mounting base for your favourite red dot.
What further distinguishes the Black Ribbon model is the extended magazine release button. It is now even easier to reach and operate for faster reloads. This Walther PDP Match also has grip panels with enhanced tactile texture, so the grip always provides more than enough purchase, even with gloves or in the rain.
The Walther PDP Match Full Size 5” SF shoots semi-automatically and it features a so-called Dynamic Performance Trigger. That trigger is one of Walther’s very best. It’s made of impact-resistant aluminium and it has a flat trigger blade with a built-in trigger safety. The trigger is tuned incredibly crisply and it has a shortened take-up, short over-travel and a very short reset. This firearm uses a striker-fired system, which means pulling the trigger directly manipulates the striker pin, further contributing to the system’s fast reaction time.
The steel slide is CNC machined and it has diagonal SuperTerrain serrations along both sides, which allow you to grab it firmly. Those serrations provide more than enough grip, even if it’s pouring or when you’re wearing gloves. The front grooves are milled open to reduce the pistol’s overall weight – so it retains its fine balance – and it allows the barrel to cool down faster. That faster cool-down will absolutely come in handy if you’re rapidly firing successive shots.
