The blade in this Casström No.10 SFK Curly Birch Carbon Steel knife making kit is made from K720 carbon steel, a very strong and hard (HRC 58-60) steel that’ll keep its edge for a very long time and is very easy to sharpen. The full tang already has three pre-drilled holes for the Corby rivets and there’s a hole too would you wish to attach a lanyard. The tang has some slots machined to create a perfect balance.

Two pieces of beautiful curly birch will form the scales of the handle. Curly birch is a special Finish birch with a curly growth, which makes for a very desirable grain. You can finish the two scales to your own design, making the handle of this hunting knife fit perfectly to your hand. Aesthetically, the possibilities are endless. You can choose to leave the wood natural, treat it with a wood stain solution, oil it or treat it with a lacquer, to name but a few options.
