Muzzle Brake MDT Comp 5/8-24

This MDT Comp 5/8-24 muzzle brake is equipped with adjustable gas ports on top. Additionally, the baffles of the gas ports are shaped in such a way that the rearward pressure wave is broken up as much as possible.

The design of the adjustable gas ports is simple yet effective. This system functions with a steel plate, which is clamped between the muzzle brake and the aluminium top plate. By loosening two screws, the steel plate can be shifted and fixed in place at any point. The plate is equipped with holes that, when the system is fully opened, line up exactly with holes in the top of the muzzle brake. These holes can also be partially or entirely covered, depending on the shooter’s preferences. In this way, muzzle climb of a rifle can be reduced.

A comparable attention to detail is evident in the design of the baffles of the muzzle brake. The surfaces are shaped in such a way that they create vortexes in the gas stream that follows the shot, which influences the shockwave. Small, forward-facing holes in one of the baffles ensure that some gas is directed forward, which further compounds this effect. As a result, the shockwave is somewhat broken up, which makes the shot less uncomfortable for the shooter.
