BUL SAS II Spitfire

This BUL SAS II Spitfire OR has a tactical design and it delivers an outstanding performance. It features a 5” one-piece compensated bull barrel. Bull barrels are slightly thicker and more durable than regular barrels, which makes them less susceptible to vibrations. This makes them slightly more accurate than regular barrels. That accuracy is enforced by the ventilation slots on top of both the barrel and the slide. Upon firing a bullet, gasses are released that propel the bullet forward and that also push the pistol back. This is called recoil, but the placement of your hand -typically slightly below the bore axis- will force the barrel to cant up, which is called muzzle flip. Those ventilation slots allow some of the gasses to escape through the top of the barrel, instead of forcing them all out the front. They allow the barrel to be pushed down. This means you can more easily keep the BUL SAS II Spitfire OR trained on the target, which in turn allows for more accurate consecutive shots.

This pistol doesn’t have any sights of its own. Instead, it has an EVO mount, which is mounted to the left side of the frame. As a result, the round’s casing can be ejected on the right side of the frame, while still having all the benefits of an optic that is not attached to the slide. There’s room for a red dot on top of that mount, which is kept firmly in place and won’t move back and forth with the slide. This also allows you to keep the pistol trained on the target at all times. The pistol has a trigger pressure of only 2 LB.

That EVO mount can make it slightly tricky to rack the slide consistently, since there’s less room to firmly grab hold of it. Luckily, the clever people over at BUL thought of this and put a so-called slide racker on the SAS II Spitfire OR. That’s a protruding lever that’s fixed to the slide, which can be used to pull the slide back. The slide racker is mounted on the left side to prevent casings -which are ejected on the right side of the slide- from being thrown into it.

The BUL SAS II Spitfire OR’s frame is made of stainless steel and the grip is made of synthetic material. There’s a rough texture on both sides of the grip, which provide a bit more grip. The noticeable, extra wide magwell ensures you can insert the 28 rounds magazine easily and tactilely.
