This Hornady Lock-N-Load bullet comparator – complete set allows you to easily and accurately check if all your bullets have the same length. Measuring a bullet from tip to base is not the most reliable method for measuring. You can use this bullet comparator to get rid of any play, so you can measure accurately.

This complete Lock-N-Load set by Hornady consists of a comparator and no less than fourteen inserts. Here’s how it works: there’s a slot in the base of the comparator, which allows you to easily set it onto the blade of your digital calliper. There’s a thumb screw on the comparator which can be used to attach it to the blade firmly. You can then put the insert whose calibre matches the cartridge you want to measure into the comparator. Those inserts have a hollow opening, which fits perfectly around the bullets’ ogive-shaped tip. That tight fit will keep the bullet in place securely, so you can reliably measure it. After mounting the right insert, you’ll have to set a new zero for the calliper. You can then gently guide the bullet’s tip into the insert, allowing you to accurately measure its length.
