Beretta 92FS

The Beretta 92FS is a well-known, almost iconic double/single action semi-automatic pistol that’s used by military and law enforcement around the world. For many decades, the Beretta 92 has been in use and the good reliability has been improved to an astonishing level with upgrades over time.

Usability has always been one of the main features. Where possible, polymer is used to keep weight to a minimum and the safety lever has been made ambidextrous to make the pistol as intuitive in use for left-handed users as for right-handed ones. Even the magazine release can be switched from left to right.

Worth mentioning is that the Beretta 92FS can be dismantled without any tools. By pushing a button on the right, a latch can be released on the left, after which the slide and barrel can be taken off as one. The spring can then be manually removed, after which the barrel can be slid out for cleaning.

Small tolerances in production and finishing are the reason that the Beretta 92FS is famed for its reliability and match-grade accuracy. The barrel has been hard chromed to reduce wear. And the open slide design reduces the risk of jamming by cases getting stuck. This makes the Beretta not very critical when it comes to ammunition. It’ll eat almost anything.

To enhance durability, the exposed metal parts have got a surface treatment by applying a Bruniton coating. This’ll prevent oxidation of the metal.
