Vortex Defender-ST Red Dot
This Vortex Defender-ST red dot has a robust design that can take a hit. It’s a highly practical optical device that comes equipped with several useful features. It can be mounted onto a Weaver/Picatinny scope rail and it has the same screw spacing as the DeltaPoint Pro footprint, which it can be firmly mounted onto. As soon as you’ve mounted the red dot, you can start tuning it. The Vortex Defender-ST red dot is available with a dot size of 3 MOA or 6 MOA. There’s an elevation turret on top of the housing, that has a maximum adjustment range of 115 MOA. The windage turret is located on the right side of the housing and it has an adjustment range of 145 MOA. You can use these two turrets to accurately set the red dot. They each produce a clearly audible click per 1 MOA adjustment and each full rotation is 25 MOA.
Aspherical lens
The Vortex Defender-ST red dot features an aspherical lens with a size of 23x20 mm. This means that all light that enters the lens is focused in one and the same spot, minimising spherical aberration. As a result, the red dot has a crisp image from edge to edge, which allows you to keep oversight while aiming. The lens has a hard, scratch-resistant coating.
Red dot
The red dot features no less than twelve brightness levels in total. Ten of those are suited for use during the day and the other two are suitable for night vision. This means the Vortex Defender-ST red dot can be used perfectly well in various lighting circumstances. Using the arrow-buttons on the left and right side of the housing allows you to easily switch between the different brightness levels. Pressing the up-button for three seconds will lock the buttons, so you can’t accidentally change the red dot’s settings.
Battery life
The Defender-ST red dot by Vortex comes equipped with an auto shut-off function, which uses the motion sensor. After being inactive for ten minutes, the red dot will automatically turn off. Moving it slightly will reactivate it and you’ll be ready to go instantly. That auto shut-off ensures you’ll be making the most of the CR2032 25.000 hours battery life. The battery can be replaced through the top of the red dot, which means you won’t have to take it off the scope rail to get to the battery compartment.
Housing
The housing of the Vortex Defender-ST red dot is made of black anodised 7075 aluminium. This means it has excellent corrosion resistance and the matte finish ensures the red dot is very discreet. There’s a rough texture on the front of the red dot, that provides slightly more grip if you’re pushing it against something. This means you can use the red dot to rack the slide. The red dot by Vortex is entirely waterproof.
