What makes FX Airguns just thát good?
FX Airguns distinguishes itself within the world of air rifles with their drive for innovation. More accuracy, more power, more usability. In short, whatever limit they reach, will be the new challenge they’ll want to tackle. For this, a technical eye is cast to provide practical solutions that then can be translated into production-friendly concepts that are rolled-out as soon as possible.
What all FX Airguns air rifles have in common, is that they’ll provide the owner adjustability on different levels and they are built in a modular way. This means future innovations can -up to a certain extent- be retrofitted to older models, upgrading them to the latest standards. Below we’ll discuss some of the challenges FX tackled, of which the solutions are also available for retrofitting on your FX airgun:
- Power plenum – The plenum is the body of air between the regulator and the valve. This little reservoir is needed to have a certain amount of regulated pressurised air at the ready for the coming shot. As you can imagine, a small amount of air will only push a pellet or slug so far into the barrel before the pressure drops enough to slow down acceleration. A bigger plenum holds a bigger amount of air, which will provide more air at the same regulated pressure, making for a higher speed of the projectile. FX has experimented a lot with plenum sizes and when the power plenum was introduced, this gave a significant boost in power which enabled firing slugs at high velocities. You can still shoot at lower velocities too, with the added advantage of getting more shots out of a fully filled air reservoir.
- Changeable barrel system – The barrel can easily be replaced in order to change calibre or length. The liner features rifling that’s pressed in from the outside, making for a very smooth inner that offers the least possible amount of drag. With this barrel system, it’s also possible to change a pellet barrel for one that’s specifically developed for slugs.
- Harmonic barrel tuner – Every shot will produce an oscillating movement (vibration) through the barrel that can affect the accuracy. When choosing ammunition, it’s through varying the power -thus speed- that you can harmonically balance the barrel to shoot tight groups. Meaning the projectile leaves the barrel at the exact the right moment within its oscillation. The harmonic barrel tuner is a strategically placed adjustable weight that does virtually the same, adding another level of control with which you can tighten down your groups even more. By twisting the barrel tuner, the weight shifts, enabling you to play with the wavelength of the oscillation.
These, and lots of other technological solutions, together with the adjustability they add, are the products of a constant aim for perfection and the new insights that come to fruit in the process. It may sound very theoretical, and in a way it is, but most FX Airguns innovations are the products of practical questions from users like you. FX has a big thirst for feedback from their customers.

- Magazines – As the first thing you’ll want to add as an accessory is at least one extra magazine, we’ve got plenty of spare magazines for all FX airguns in stock.
- Air cylinders – Matching to suit your FX airgun and your needs, we’ve got a wide variety of FX air cylinders with different capacities, both in aluminium or carbon.
- Barrels and liners – To change calibre, barrel length or make your FX airgun suitable for shooting slugs, we’ve got lots of different barrels and liners lined up for you.
- Pellet probes – When changing calibre, you also need to change the pellet probe. No worries, we’ve got you covered on that too.
- Spare parts kits – Being PCP air rifles, FX airguns feature loads of O-rings and during time, these can dry out or can get damaged when (dis)assembling for routine maintenance. It’s recommendable to refresh the O-rings your FX every now and then and for good measure we’ve included a regulator rod and -screw into our kits too.
- Conversion kits – FX airguns are built in a modular way. Some models can be converted from on to another by means of an FX conversion kit, roughly keeping the action and barrel, but changing the rest.
- Slug power kits – When shooting slugs, an FX slug power kit will help you get even more power from your FX airgun. The kit consists of an adjustable pellet probe and some parts to alter the weight and action of the hammer and valve.
There is more though, like bottle adapters, barrel clams, digital pressure gauges, chronometers, stocks et cetera. And of course, the previously mentioned Power Plenum and Harmonic Barrel Tuner are also available in our shop. Worth mentioning too are the hand pumps FX is well-known for. These multiple action pumps reduce the force needed to fill the air cylinder of your FX air rifle to several hundreds of bars.
This is FX Airguns
FX Airguns is the brainchild of one man, Fredrik Axelsson from Sweden. As an avid hunter with a preference for air rifles, he just couldn’t find what he wanted in existing air rifles. He set about changing things for himself, implementing a home engineered contraption that we now know as a gasram. But when the realisation hit that compressed air was the way to go, the adventure started that resulted in the start of FX Airguns in Mariestad in 1999, producing high-end air rifles as a serious manufacturer.
There are lots of manufacturers designing and producing air rifles, but FX Airguns tries to steer clear of copying systems of others or even looking at them, preferring to look at solutions themselves to reach new hights. It’s one of those stubborn characteristics that you will only find in a family owned company, but it results in refreshing (and effective!) ideas that keep on pushing the development of air rifles.
The philosophy of FX Airguns is to produce the best airguns they can and when their constant search for better and more leads them to new innovations, they immediately start working on it for a quick roll-out. No strategic waiting for the right moment with a marketing calendar in hand.
