Naming one specific shoe as being a perfect airsoft boot is nigh impossible. For one airsofter, tactical military boots will be just the thing, while the other might opt for often lighter and cheaper variants marketed by specific airsoft brands. A third category swears by outdoor footwear. In our assortment, we’ve got a mix of everything. We’ve kept an eye out for what military serviceman and -women prefer in addition to their supplied gear. Often these tactical boots are both more practical and better than the footwear that’s issued to them.
For airsoft, you’ll need footwear that scores high on the following:
And that’s where we’ve selected the airsoft boots in our store on. They tick all the boxes above. Some of our airsoft shoes are specifically made for airsoft, while others are tactical boots and outdoor footwear from high-end brands that are popular in military circles.
Tactical boots, as airsoft boots are often referred to, don’t really differ from outdoor shoes. However, some outdoor footwear is designed for rough mountain use with ankle knackering sharp rocks, meaning these boots are very robust and less tactile. They can be heavy too. Other outdoor shoes are very sporty and tactile, such as trail running shoes, that are meant for a good grip on slippery surfaces, while offering lots of freedom of movement, but less protection. The best airsoft boots offer a combination of both.
When you’re running around all day, which happens when you’re airsofting, you definitely want lightweight airsoft boots on your feet. Extra weight will only tire you out sooner and it will affect your manoeuvrability. Our tactical boots are all selected for being lightweight.
Whether it’s a concrete floor, gravel, leaves or sand, everything stands (or not) with the grip provided by the soles. Our airsoft boots all have a deep profile, but they’ve also got a rubber compound that guarantees a maximum of grip.
The protection that airsoft boots offer is mainly aimed at protecting the ankles and it’s doing that in two ways. The ankle bones are protruding a bit, making them vulnerable to chafing. An extra layer of protection will prevent this. This layer will also protect your ankles against incoming BB’s in the otherwise unprotected area between your trousers and shoes. Airsoft boots, even the lower ones, are all high enough for your trousers to fall over them.
Tactical boots are designed to perform in exact those areas that matter. No more, and certainly no less. So, with the qualities mentioned above in mind, comfort might feel a bit like luxury. But it is, in fact, a necessity. A good footbed, soft lining and perfect fit will keep your feet comfortable, preventing fatigue and blisters.
As airsoft boots will have a hard life, they have to be hard wearing. The materials need to be durable and seems and sole attachment have to be strong. Not only to still have airsoft boots on your feet at the end of a skirm, but mainly to offer you the best protection, best grip and best comfort possible.
We’ve got a very nice selection of airsoft boots and to select the perfect pair for yourself, just take a moment to consider your needs. Before you do that, it’s good to know that airsoft boots for men are the same as the airsoft boots for women. They’re unisex, but their laces will make for a perfect fit either way.
What you do can choose between, is if you want low or high tactical boots. As said before, our low airsoft shoes are high enough to protect your ankles. But the high ones do come to their own when you’re running through loose sand, water or mud, giving a way better protection against ‘filling your shoes’.
Another decision to make is if you want your airsoft boots to have a waterproof and breathable membrane. Those shoes will cost a bit more, but will keep your feet dry and comfortable when airsofting in the wet. Logically, this choice mainly depends on the location where you practise airsoft and the weather conditions you are willing to play in.
